Our clients include the mining, electrical, agricultural and private sectors.  We also engrave memorial plaques in stainless steel or brass.

SERVICE DETAILS

National Engravers can provide you with 6 different methods of engraving – Diamond Drag, Rotary Engrave, Direct Laser Engrave, Laser Chemical Etch, Sand Carve and UV Print.

National Engravers will match the best method to your specific request, providing the highest quality engraving Australia wide.

“Diamond Drag”, also known as “scratch” engraving, for use on metals such as brass, aluminum, pewter, silver, and gold. Diamond-drag pushes a diamond cutter through the surface of the material and then pulls to create scratches.

Rotary engraving is the process of using a spinning cutter in a motor-powered spindle to cut or “rout” into a material, either completely through the substrate to create cut out shapes or holes, or at a predetermined depth to create engraved grooves that form characters and graphics.

Direct Laser Engraving is produced with a specialised laser which as the process suggests marks the metal directly without the need for any chemical or other substance.

It is a permanent mark and can be used on metals and plastics. Produces a black mark on plastic such as light switch blocks. Is excellent for marking watches, pens, tools and other industrial applications.

Chemical milling or industrial etching is the subtractive manufacturing process of using baths of temperature-regulated etching chemicals to remove material to create an object with the desired shape. It is mostly used on metals.

The process essentially involves bathing the cutting areas in a corrosive chemical known as an etchant, which reacts with the material in the area to be cut and causes the solid material to be dissolved; inert substances known as maskants are used to protect specific areas of the material as resists

Sand Carving is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface, or remove surface contaminants.

UV printing is a form of digital printing that uses ultra-violet lights to dry or cure ink as it is printed. As the printer distributes ink on the surface of a material specially designed UV lights follow close behind, curing – or drying – the ink instantly.

Because the UV lights cure any printed ink immediately, the dots of wet ink do not get a chance to spread out once printed, resulting in much finer detail. In addition, UV cured inks are weather-resistant and offer increased resistance to fading. This curing process is more environmentally friendly as it produces few VOC’s, odor, and heat. UV curing also allows the flatbed printer to be used with nontraditional materials like acrylic or aluminum.
